KC Independence Day Celebration

The Fourth Annual Kent City Independence Day Celebration is THIS Friday, June 28, 2024!
Join us on Main Street for an evening of fun! 
Main Street will be closing at 8:00 a.m. from E Muskegon Street to Ball Creek.
The street festival will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the fireworks show at dusk.

Shuttle service, provided by Dean Transportation, will be available from both the
Kent City Middle School Front Lot &
the Arc Archer parking lot.

KIDS' AREA

This year, thanks to our generous sponsors, we've expanded our kids' area.
The Tyrone Township Fire Department is returning with games and a "touch-a-truck" experience.
We will also have a mega bounce house and 20' dual lane slide.
New this year is a FREEDOM FOAM PARTY, courtesy of the Mother-Son Nerf Night Committee, AND
a dunk tank featuring some of your favorite community members!
The dunk tank will require purchase of tickets to play - all proceeds will go to the fundraising efforts of our featured guests.

1 Ball - 1 Ticket
3 Balls - 2 Tickets

 Dunk Tank Line-Up
1. Deputy LaSotta, Kent City's SRO, and members of the Kent County Sheriff's Department will be the first to brave the tank from 6:00 - 6:30.
2. The KCFD Firefighter's will be up next, making the splashes until 7:15.
3. KCHS Eagles Coach Gropp, Mr. Stuhan and Coach Freeland will take the stand following the KCFD from 7:15 - 8:00. 
4. From 8:00 to 8:45, the Pastors of Kent City Baptist Church will be soaking up the fun. 
5. Last but not least, Mr. Gerbers will be sitting for the KCHS Soccer team.

MECHANICAL BULL
We're welcoming another new attraction this year - a mechanical bull! 
This event will require 2 tickets ($1 Ticket=$1.00) per ride. Unlimited ride wristbands will be $5. 
Open to all ages, waiver required, and minors must have a parent present when the chute opens. 

LOCAL ARTISAN VENDOR SHOW
Lining Main Street, you will find over 40 different vendor booths with something for everyone in your life! 
We've got confectionary delights for both you and your furry friends, gourmet jerky, homemade bread, jewelry, handmade wood & metal forged items, soy candles, succulents, beeswax products, tumblers, books, boutique & custom clothing, and much, much more! Individual vendor spotlights can be found on the Kent City Independence Day Celebration Facebook page. 

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT
The cornhole tournament is back again this year, spearheaded by Scoreholio. 

ANTIQUE TRACTOR SHOW
Joining us this year is the first annual Ridge Vintage tractor show - 6:00 to 8:30 pm!
Come check out the machines that helped shape our agricultural history.

AMERICAN LEGION BEER TENT Opens @ 5 pm. ID required.

FIREWORKS SHOW  @ dusk. Keep an eye out for some exciting & fun light up toys for sale throughout the evening! 
Or bring your own from home! Fireworks are launched over the Kent City WWTP ponds - located on the East side of the Village. 
Viewing areas include Spring Street, Main Street, and the Village parks.
