General Information:
The professional term for sewer is wastewater.
The Village's lagoon system was constructed in
the early 1960's and modified in 1980 to include
irrigation facilities and additional storage.
Most of the collection system was replaced in
1998 to remove excessive infiltration and
inflow.
Villages that discharge treated wastewaters to
lakes and streams or to groundwater do so under
a federal permitted system known as the National
Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
The permit spells out in exact detail the volume
of wastewater the community can discharge and
the concentrations of pollutants the wastewater
discharge may contain. Weather permitting,
the months of discharge are March thru
November.
This is an enterprise fund.
Sewer bills are mailed out on a quarterly basis
following the monthly sequence of March 1, June
1, September 1, and December 1 of each year.
Charges are billed in advance and payments are
due to the Village of Kent City on the last day
of the month preceding the quarterly billing
period.
Payments can either be mailed by USPS to the
Village of Kent City, PO Box 296, Kent
City, MI 49330 - or made in
person at the Village Office during office
hours. After hours payment may be placed
in the mail slot in the front door of the
Village Office. Exact change is requested
when paying in cash.
A 10% late fee is added to each quarterly charge
if not paid by the due date. Payment must
be received on or before the due date to avoid
